I saw these memory sticks in a computer arts magazine. The image caught my eye. I thought this was an original idea and was very distinctive. I liked the idea as i thought it was such a contrast to the image of computers and everything man made. It is a unique product and a successful design as it offers something different to your ordinary usb stick.

My mum brought me a Japanese graphics book when she returned back from Japan. However cant read the language but it's full of plenty images. It's mainly based on logo design and business identity. It interesting to see how different they go about design and how culture has such effect on design. The book is business related and has a lot of corporate influence.

I've jus finished reading the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy. It's comedy based and a light hearted read. It's filled with pletny of inspiring and waky concepts about the meaning of life, the universe and eveything in it. it's opend my mind and made me think differently about situations and not to take life so seriouly. I always feel comdey is a great source of inspiration and gets me thinking about posative work and passing it on.

i found factory 311 through computer arts magazine. I was inspired by their eye catching artwork. There style is very clean with an impressive finish. It's kept very simple yet has alot of intresting visual aspects, colour and effect. What also intrested me was that they hold events. They open up stores and play music, gathering a crowd and a community vibein which they also showcase their artwork.

This book is filled with plenty of inspirational examples of typography. It also displays a variety of ways of how type can be applied to design and images. It's interesting to see designs from different cultures and to gain more awareness. This has allowed me to see new and unseen styles. It's opened my eyes to what type can offer and how creative you can be with typography. If you need typography inspiration this book has plenty of imaginative ideas.

3 Mobile, street work competition

The competition is apart of the client list for Don't Panic and can be seen on their website. It seems Dont Panic provide a great source of new and talented artists who are willing to enter these competions and get their work seen.

The style of art work is fresh, playful and urban, which is suitable for a young student audience. This is a great experience for up and comming artists and is an opertunity that could lead to more. I think this is a great way to learn, progress and gain confiedence.

Mobile Broadband is a service offered by 3 that gives customers access to the internet on their PC or laptop using a USB modem (or dongle). They wanted to organise a competition that allowed artists and creative types as much freedom as possible, while still creating a visual message which related to 3's mobile dongle. They want you to create a personal, unique piece of work representing freedom, communication, locality or whatever you can draw from 3's mobile-broadband dongle. As well as a cash prize, the winner (as selected from a publically voted shortlist) will also have their work reproduced as part of a limited edition collection of posters available through east London, and included on stickers inside the Don't Panic packs.

I watched this film and was a bit disappointed. However I was not surprised as didn't really have high expectations. I thought the film did not offer anything new, different or ground breaking in comparison his past two films: 'Lock stock' and 'Snatch.' The film seemed very repetitive with no surprises and similar shock elements. It would have been more inspiring to see a Guy Ritchie film that was a bit more experimental. However the filming aspect, camera angles, acting and overall presentation did not drop in standards. I thought it was professionally finished and maintained quality.

The website is well put togather. There is coherance between the pages and a similar style applied through out. The motion graphics slightly creative and made the site more interactive and enjoyable. However i didnt think the design was very experimental or aimed to set a new trend. I felt it was reuseing and repeating past urban design styles (ie. cutout effect, spray paint, outlines of city landscapes and paint splashes,) rather than trying to creating new boundires.

Aquatint is a printing company who supply professional prints for a variety of clients. I have recently done work experience for the company and was given a tour around their business and how they work. I was mainly shadow working and learnt from each department and each different job role. I gained an insight into marketing and sales, the people who get customers, the graphic designers, the technicians etc. The company was strictly paper print and they had a variety of printers. Laser jet printers and digital printers to print rough copies before the bigger jobs were sent to the Litho printer. I was given a detailed explanations of how the Litho printer works and how it is managed. There were several people managing the litho printer. I got to see how clients work was printed onto the plates (CMYK) and then taken to the litho printer which would print thousands of sheets through out the day. It was very useful to understand the technical side of printing and how it is turned into a business.

below are some pictures of the Litho printer. They also let me see inside the printer and explained how each part functioned. From the ink rollers to the water rollers, and the plate which is wrapped around a large roller and where the paper is fed through. It made more sense than the 2D diagrams and I wish i had this experience sooner.

I thought this concept was simple and basic yet it is something I probably would of never thought of doing myself. I like the idea of transforming something ordinary into something more energetic, interactive and playful. I think it has a positive message and is an idea that brings out the inner child. On a ordinary day it always good to see something different and more lighthearted on the streets, which could cheer you up or make you smile. I enjoy this aspect of design and consitantly on the look out.

New image art gallery is one of many art gallery's in America. This gallery is based in LA. I found their website as the as they helped expose the 'Date Farmers' art work. It would be great to see more help for artists in the UK. The gallery is also dedicated for street artists and gives them a place to do their artwork. Looking through the different exhibitions each artist brings something new and original as streets artists consistently try to distinguish themselves from other artists.

More Inspiration for Wooster

Looking for something to do? 50 cents per idea. I never seen one of these before but would defiantly try it out. This image is powerful, it had me laughing and then thinking how else the concept could be used. For example seeing the machine as a comical alternative to the creative industry. Every creative could be out of a job.

I personally admire this artwork. Its a great choice of image and location. The old wrinkly face against cold broken concrete adds immense impact to make this design powerful. There is great emotion within the face which is then transferred onto the location.

During a recent trip to Nottingham i found this free art gallery called "inspired." The gallery was in the centre of city where a diverse range of people had access. I could see the gallery was apart of the "Nottingham society of artists." I thought it was good to see support amongst local artists as it can prove hard to find exposure. With a variety exhibitions, this is a great opportunity for many artists to get seen. It would be intresting to see more art communities that provide a place for artists to display their work. I think this could be a way to get more people intrested in art and putting it into practice.

When looking through a recent edition of the 'Computer Arts magazine' issue 151, I saw an article on the success of an event called 'Offf.' It attracted 2,500 people to Lisbon. This is a cutting edge festival exploring the latest in digital aesthetics and software language. OFFF festival brings together the artists that are breaking ground and shaping new standards in media and design, becoming the essential meeting point for the international scene of digital creation. OFFF claim to be the only event of this kind. They also offer workshops and give the change to inspire and educate people. I think events like this can posativly influence artists, the communtiy and the creative industry. Events like this is something i would like to more of.

Nike Shoe Box

Nike's challenge for this brief was to inspire football crazy kids to pursue their dreams of playing professionally. The idea was to transform the shoebox into a stadium. The shoebox was also embedded with sound chips so when it was opened you could hear the crowd roar.
I love the imagination put into this project and transforming an ordinary show box into something more creative and interactive for the customer. The concept also ties in well with it's product and has great relevance. Great ideas like this represent why Nike are a top leading brand as they always offer that little bit more consideration to their customer.

I found this skittles video on YouTube. It may just be someone messing around with a cheap camera, poor lighting and A4 sheets of paper spread out on his desk, but the actually idea and concept is brilliant. I think it's fun, light hearted and grabs your attention through out. It successfully represents skittles as a product, however with a professional execution this ad could be brilliant. The best aspect of this idea is the imagination and the great editing which allows it to be cost efficient as you only need to buy a couple packets of skittles to create this.

Magma Books

Magma is a book shop now based in London and Manchester. They sell a variety of art related books and products. They also specialise in subjects such as graphic design, photography, fashion, street art, advertising etc. I have always found this a good place to search for rare books and products that you would not find in an ordinary book shop.

What also inspires me about the shop is the exhibitions and events involved. Artist regularly paint and showcase their work within the shops. This brings an interesting aspect to the store and makes the experience all the better. Not only can you see live artists but i think Magma are setting a good example and helping local artists promote their work. I think more types of shops should offer this experience as it not only benefits the artist but also the customer. Allowing different artists to paint regularly can provide more custom on a regular basis as it allows them to be inspired by something different each time they step in the shop. This could also get locals interested in art and spread it's popularity. The fact that this shop changes it's individual look and is personally painted. This gives it a unique quality as it is no common experience.

Magma attempt is to make shopping a rich and inspiring activity, to make it a breath of fresh air and to make retail more creative.

Shaman Art Farmers

"The Date Farmers" are two Mexican-American artists, Armando Lerma and Carlos Ramirez. Their art has recently grown in popularity which is inspired by the sights and sounds of places like the Date Festival in Indio, California. They describe as young students this festival is where they first found an interest for art. Taking a look at the local artists work provided a big inspiration to create their own art and influenced them to display their own showcase. I think having available space for local artists to display their art is a great way to share creativity and inspire one another. This could also help and encourage artists to start an interest at a younger age and to give them something practical to do.

What inspires me about 'the date farmers' is the fact they use found objects to create their art. They describe their method of work is to "find junk and to turn it into something beautiful so people could appreciate it" and to look for things that people threw away. This inspires me in terms of their imagination and creativty and the fact that art can be created from virtually nothing.

The cans Festival

The cans festival is an event held in London, Lake street. The place is called 'the tunnel' and is a designated stencil area. Known artists such as Banksy turned up to paint at the event.

In particular I am looking out for events like this one. This type of event reflects the outcome of what i want to achieve for my 3rd year project. I find the idea positive and uplifting as it can provide the youth to get inspired and interested in art instead of being bord. It also encourages artists to come together as a community and a chance to show-case their work. The turn out to the event was surprisingly big for both for the artists and the viewers. Personally i would like to see more opportunities like this and would jump at the opportunity to show case my work or just to turn up as a viewer. I hope other people feel the same way and promoting events like this could become very popular. I think more should be done to encourage the youth to get involved with art as it is an intrest that can grow on individuals and groups. Art for the youth can be treated like a hobby and something to do in your spare time. None the less it can encourage the youth to work hard at something that is enjoyable and to keep them busy and stay out of trouble.

There will be different events and debates. This will be interesting to attend and hopefully learn something new and see some refreshing imagery. When Thinking about inspiring music videos, this one by Plan B always stands out in my mind. Being a memorable piece of design is a great quality to have and is often the aim. I think the imagery ties in well with the style of music and holds your attention throghout. There is consist movement and creativity which highlights how imaginative and playful the video is. I like vinatge feel and is something I always look out for as it is becomeing more popular. Overall the execution of the concept is successfully unusual and plays upon your state of mind.

Deviant Art is online community of artists from around the world. This website is a great way for up and coming artists to meet, communicate and help one another. I think these type of websites provide a great way to expose your work and get everyone interested in one communal area. Deviant art produces a large variety of inspiring artists and I often browse through the search engine to network amongst them. Artists within the community specialise in many categories such as Digital art, skin art, themes, wallpaper art, traditional art, photography, typography etc. The website is always attracting new artist and consistently produces new and interesting art. I never fail to find creative and inspiring art when searching on Deviant art. It has also raised my awareness of new software, techniques and methods of creating digital art.

I’m an Active member of 'Deviant Art,' in which I update and display my own design work. ‘http://www.oh-ke-doke.deviantart.com/’ It’s a good opportunity to interacting with other designers to learn, discuss and gain feedback. Wooster collective is a website/online community founded in 2001. The site showcases art that is placed in the streets of cities around the world. Wooster collective has had a big impact in celebrating street art and influencing its awareness as an art movement.

As a site they often change their title header which always seems to display a new and interesting way to represent their image. What i enjoy about Wooster collective is how they are dedicated to try out new ideas, stay current and consistently update and recreate themselves. I think they distinguish themselves as being original and eager to portray individual personality. This also seems to reflects what the art movement is about.

The website never fails to produce a variety of fresh and unseen art work form various streets artists from different countries and cultures. This is where I often find inspiring images or something that is creative, imaginative, lighthearted and would make me laugh. I like to see Wooster collective as a collection of funny moments that are spotted around busy cities when no one was paying attention. Above is a street artist who works with his environment. He creates arrows and applies his signature style and then ties them to high objects such as street posts, signs, trees etc. He sees his work as a type of sign language and describes it as a "visual form of communication using movement instead of sound." Like many other graffiti artist he has spread his work to large cities such as Barcelona, London, Paris and New York. His idea is to get people to simply look above in a comical sign of hope. I see his work as humorous, light hearted and of certainly up lifting.

I wanted to start with what first comes into my mind when looking for inspiration. What first influenced me in terms of creativity and imagination. Graffiti often dominates the view from train windows and was something that always caught my attention. I enjoyed seeing how different artists express them selves, showing personal style and originality. For graffiti artists it's important to show individuality and to distinguish themselves amongst the crowd as the aim is to get seen and create new trends.

'Graffiti World' displays how the art form has spread across the globe. The book gave me an insight into other cultures and communities. It was interesting to see the vast scale of different graffiti projects and daring attempts to get seen such as painting the Hollywood sign or changing the colour of a large bloc of flats.

This book has introduced me to many inspiring artists that I admire such as ‘Above,‘ ‘Banksy‘ ‘123Klan,‘ ‘buff monster‘ ‘kid acne‘ and ‘flying fortress‘. It was intriguing to hear what they had to say about their work and why they do it. What I learnt was how passionate and dedicated they are as artists and the dedication to consistently produce creative ideas.
